TUDOR Black Bay Chrono “Panda” (M79360N) Review: On Leather & On a Woman’s Wrist

Here is my honest opinion after years of collecting and wearing watches: men’s watches are just better. And no, 41mm is not too big for a woman’s wrist. I’ve had this watch for a few years now, and honestly, our relationship has only gotten better with time. It isn’t my everyday beat-it-up-and-forget-it watch; I wear it occasionally. But whenever I open my watch box and pull it out, it still gives me that instant “oh yeah, this is the one” feeling. Let’s start with the face, because that is what hooked me in the first place. This specific model is famously known as the “Panda,” and it earns every bit of that adorable nickname. You’ve got a crisp, opaline white dial contrasted against two deep, matte-black sub-dials. It is clean, legible, and visually balanced in a way that tickles the design-obsessed part of my brain. Add in TUDOR’s signature snowflake hands and the subtle red accent on the tip of the chronograph hand, plus the red depth rating text, and you have a watch face that looks like it belongs on a vintage racing grid in the 1970s. It has personality. It doesn’t scream for attention, but if someone catches a glance of it across a table, they know it’s something special. It’s powered by the manufacture Calibre MT5813, which boasts a 70-hour power reserve and a column-wheel chronograph mechanism with a vertical clutch. It is also water-resistant to 200 meters. Am I ever going to strap on a scuba tank and dive 200 meters into the freezing ...

Step aside About Effing Time - this is my ultimate three-watch collection

Building a fantasy watch collection is a fun game many watch collectors play. With so many watches to choose from, and so many collector-personalities to make these choices, it is always interesting to see which watches people select in these horological fantasy drafts. Often, because there are so many options to choose from, parameters are … ContinuedThe post Step aside About Effing Time – this is my ultimate three-watch collection appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

HANDS-ON: Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date

I have to admit that up until this month I all but ignored bronze watches. It seemed like a lingering trend that just didn’t make a lot of sense to me, in photos anyway. Because I’m in my late 30s and not my early 20s, I decided that this kind of pre-judgement was beneath me, … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

VIDEO: Colour, controversy and a streamlined case - Felix’s top Basel 2019 watches under $10,000

Baselworld 2019 was a fairly subdued affair, but that didn’t stop me from ferreting out three (very very different) pieces that reminded me what my love of watches was all about.  Tudor Black Bay P01 Yup, I know. All y’all were very much not into this piece. And you know what, on paper (or Instagram, … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: Colour, controversy and a streamlined case – Felix’s top Basel 2019 watches under $10,000 appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

EDITOR’S PICK: Last year we predicted 9 vintage reissues to be released in 2018. So how did we do?

Editor’s note: Speculation is, by definition, risky. But it’s also fun. And here at T+T we don’t speculate on shares or cryptocurrency - no, we make guesses on watch releases. So last year we made nine semi-educated guesses as to what watches we’d see this year … and we didn’t do so well. If you’re … ContinuedThe post EDITOR’S PICK: Last year we predicted 9 vintage reissues to be released in 2018. So how did we do? appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.
