HANDS-ON: Chanel’s exceptional Boy.Friend Skeleton

If you were born yesterday or became acquainted with pop culture only last year, you could be forgiven for thinking – based on the excitable talk among style-and-social commentators – that it’s a newly minted concept. Not so. The 1970s: boys wearing their hair longer than girls; 1966: Yves Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking … and … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: Chanel’s exceptional Boy.Friend Skeleton appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

INTERVIEW: We talk to Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo at the launch of TAG Heuer’s latest smartwatch

TAG Heuer have a long history in motorsport. Heuer chronographs adorned the dashboards of now priceless Porsches and Ferraris that were being rallied in the 1960s. Fans of Steve McQueen will know he wore a Monaco in his famous 1971 film Le Mans. Then only three years after that film, TAG Heuer championed digital precision … ContinuedThe post INTERVIEW: We talk to Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo at the launch of TAG Heuer’s latest smartwatch appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

HANDS-ON: Simply masterful - the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Geographic

Twenty-five years ago Jaeger-LeCoultre released the Master Control collection, a line of watches dedicated to the sort of traditional high-quality watchmaking for which the Le Sentier-based house is so well known. The pure style of the Master Control sits well with the credibility afforded by JLC’s ‘1000 Hours Control’ testing program, in which the subject watch … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: Simply masterful - the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Geographic appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

HANDS-ON: Ulysse Nardin’s surprise sailing watch - the Marine Regatta

Ulysse Nardin made their name way back in 1846 making marine chronometres – highly accurate ship’s clocks that were an essential navigational tool in the times before radio and GPS. These days the Le Locle-based brand still makes chronometre-style timepeices, but as a celebration of heritage rather than a practical tool. This isn’t to say that … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: Ulysse Nardin’s surprise sailing watch – the Marine Regatta appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

HANDS-ON: Confident refinement - the Ulysse Nardin Classico Manufacture Grand Feu

Ulysse Nardin pulled out all the stops for its first SIHH showing. In a fair charactered by conservative product releases, the Le Locle-based manufacturer presented a strong line-up of novelties, with a strong nautical theme, highlights including the new regatta timer, the technically impressive Marine Grand Deck, as well as this watch – the Classico Manufacture Grand … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: Confident refinement – the Ulysse Nardin Classico Manufacture Grand Feu appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

HANDS-ON: Gold medal effort - the Omega Olympic Official Timekeeper Co-Axial Chronograph

When discussing Omega’s limited editions, it’s generally pieces from the Speedmaster or Seamaster lines that spring to mind – and certainly when it comes to the Rio 2016 releases, it’s the Mark II Speedy and the brightly-bezelled Seamaster that have been chewing up most of the bandwidth. But if you ask me, Omega’s finest Rio LE is this … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: Gold medal effort – the Omega Olympic Official Timekeeper Co-Axial Chronograph appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

Introducing: The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty Tourbillon Micro-Rotor 39

What We Know Unveiling four new calibers in just 12 months, Girard-Perregaux has been rather busy lately. The La Chaux-de-Fonds-based marque celebrated a half-century of its Laureato model last year, with the introduction of the Laureato Fifty, including two-tone and Three Gold Bridges Tourbillon models. GP followed that up in 2026 with the Laureato Fifty becoming a permanent part of the model line and the introduction of 39 millimeter and 36mm models, showcasing the historic integrated bracelet watch design first introduced in 1975, as well as the signature bridges and grand feu enamel and precious metals dials at the heart of the brand's savoir-faire. Today, GP is introducing yet another Laureato, the Fifty Tourbillon micro-rotor in 39mm, aiming to bring together key design and mechanical elements defining Girard-Perregaux over its 235-year history.  The Fifty Tourbillon is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 39mm in diameter and a svelte 10mm thick, with a matching integrated bracelet in the same metal offering 4mm of micro-adjust capability. Available in two Clous de Paris motif dial versions, a blue grand-feu enamel, or 18 karat rose gold, the watch features and celebrates classic Laureato and GP elements. The signature is the 'lyre-shaped' tourbillon at 6 o'clock supported by white gold, arrow-shaped bridges that draw on the brand's historic three-bridge design first produced by Constant Girard back in 1867.   The relatively restrained dial features lumed...
