HANDS-ON: The Eterna KonTiki Super Chronograph - a bang-for-buck in-house chrono

A peer of the Submariner and the Fifty Fathoms, the Eterna KonTiki is one of the all-time great dive watches, with its own equally cool backstory. In 1947, Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl sailed from Peru to the Polynesian islands on a 14-foot balsa-wood raft called the Kon-Tiki. The 6900km journey took 101 days, and at … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: The Eterna KonTiki Super Chronograph – a bang-for-buck in-house chrono appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

LIST: 6 watches for all 6 types of super-villain, just in time for Suicide Squad

With Suicide Squad in cinemas (and trending poorly on Rotten Tomatoes)  we’ve got bad guys on the brain, and we can’t help noticing that when it comes to Hollywood, there are two distinct trends, the first noted by Empire: “If Marvel has the best superheroes, so the prevailing geek-logic goes, then DC has the coolest villains.” … ContinuedThe post LIST: 6 watches for all 6 types of super-villain, just in time for Suicide Squad appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

Glashütte Original Senator Cosmopolite: For Those Who Call The World Their Home

Watches aimed at frequent travelers come in many shapes and forms. Some simply feature a second time zone, while others incorporate additional complications like a chronograph or full calendar. In recent years, we have seen a strong increase in watches offering complications aimed very specifically at the needs of the traveler. In 2012, Glashütte Original […]

Earliest Known Patek Philippe Grand Complication Sold For $2.25 Million By Christie’s, Sets World’s Record

Given the exceptional desirability and rarity of complicated watches by Patek Philippe it’s reasonable for collectors and connoisseurs to think there are few if any surprises left in the field, but that belief was overturned by the presentation by Christie’s, for its June 11th auction, of a timepiece that had until the auction never before […]

Ahead Of Its Time: Louis Moinet’s “Compteur de Tierces” From 1816 Is Now Earliest Known Chronograph

The word “chronograph” is one which, like many technical terms in watchmaking, has drifted in meaning somewhat over the years, along with the development of the complication itself (interestingly the chronograph, despite its relative ubiquity today, was the last of the major classic complications to be developed, which speaks perhaps to the relative indifference of […]

Reviewing The Rado Captain Cook x Cameron Green Limited Edition

Has Rado hit it for six with the new Captain Cook x Cameron Green limited edition? We find out in this review! What We Love The green gradient dial gives the watch plenty of character The 42mm case wears well, and seems smaller than the specs suggest The cricket-inspired details bring the watch to life really well What We Don’t A colour-matched date window would have looked better, although it would have been tricky Swapping straps can be a little fiddly at first, especially the rubber While the bracelet adds versatility, there is no micro-adjustment or quick adjustment at all on the clasp Overall Rating: 8.4 / 10 Value for Money: 8.5/10 Wearability: 9/10 Design: 8/10 Build Quality: 8/10 By now, most people will be familiar with the Rado Captain Cook. First introduced in 1962, the Captain Cook was Rado’s take on the dive watch, with a design that included a rotating bezel and the brand’s now-famous moving anchor logo on the dial. The original models were produced between 1962 and 1968, before Rado brought the collection back in 2017 with a modern interpretation that stayed true to the original 37mm design. In 2019, the collection expanded with 42mm models, followed by versions in different materials, including bronze and Rado’s high-tech ceramic. If you’re interested in the Captain Cook’s journey, the article below may be of interest. De Rijke & Co. Makes the Capri Collection a Permanent Fixture of Its Catalog with Three Staple Colorways

At Windup last fall, De Rijke & Co. made a surprise unveiling of the Capri collection, marked by its distinctive ultra-thin rectangular case, unique curved sapphire crystal, integrated shrouded lugs, and stone dials. As the year went on, the brand made an official announcement about the line, launching a poster challenge featuring hidden Easter eggs and offering further previews at other industry events like Milan Watch Week. As the calendar page turned to 2026, pre-orders for the anticipated limited edition Capri finally opened for the initial iterations in black onyx, black aventurine, and blue capri produced in just 50 pieces each. Now, the brand ushers the model into its permanent catalog with three new dial colors: champagne, salmon, and silver. Within each dial variant, there is a balance of subtle nuances and stylistic throughlines. Each version carries a fine textured frosted dial composition that catches and diffuses the light, bringing out the broader spectrum of tones within each of the neutral colorways. De Rijke & Co. has made this effect deliberately subtle. Rather than relying on gloss or decoration, the dials reveal themselves through the curvature across the dial and crystal that’s a defining feature of the Capri. However, each dial shade also has its own cheeky personality. The salmon model offers a fresh take on a hue used throughout the history of watchmaking. Here, the warm pink tone is brought to life thanks to the contrast of the deep blue strap an...

Inside The Swatch Sistem51 And Bioceramic Production Sites

In September, I ended up spending more time in airport lounges than in my living room at home. Sometimes, that’s not so bad, especially when it means new opportunities! One highlight was visiting Switzerland to tour two Swatch Group production sites. At one, I saw how movements are made, and at the other, I watched […] Visit Inside The Swatch Sistem51 And Bioceramic Production Sites to read the full article.
