HANDS-ON: Glimmering through the darkness - Moser’s Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept in red gold

There is absolutely zero doubt that Moser know their way around a fine dial. Their fumé is hypnotic perfection at its best. Last year the brand upped the ante with their conceptual perpetual with impossibly black Vantablack dial. Well, if this well of blackness (which is a wonder on the wrist) leaves you as cold … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: Glimmering through the darkness – Moser’s Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept in red gold appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

Pancor Watch P02 Review and My Kickstarter Buying Experience

I found the Pancor Watches P02 and I fell in love with it. This watch called to me for a three reasons: (1) It had a hi-beat movement. All of the watches I had experienced up to this point were 21.6k beats per hour, and I yearned for a smoother sweep; (2) it was black PVD and I thought that was awesome; (3) And the power reserve reminded me of that elusive Tudor North Flag.

HANDS-ON: The impossible blackness of Moser’s Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept

Few colours have the symbolic weight of black. It’s meaningful in pretty much every culture. It’s associated - naturally enough - with darkness, mourning and solemnity, and with endings and beginnings. It’s also a colour of power and authority. All these associations and emotions are tied up in Moser’s latest conceptual piece, the Endeavour Perpetual … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: The impossible blackness of Moser’s Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

INTRODUCING: Alpina’s Startimer Pilot Heritage - a value-packed GMT with style to boot

If you think of a pilot’s watch, there’s a good chance you’re thinking of a large round watch, with a black dial and bold Arabic numerals. Well, Alpina’s latest, the Startimer Pilot Heritage, ticks none of these boxes, but that doesn’t make it any less of a pilot’s watch. The design of the Startimer Pilot … ContinuedThe post INTRODUCING: Alpina’s Startimer Pilot Heritage – a value-packed GMT with style to boot  appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

IN-DEPTH: The Seiko Samurai ‘Save The Ocean’ SRPC93K

The story in a second: Same great watch, brand new dial. The centrepiece of Seiko’s 2018 Prospex collection is, without doubt, the brand new and very blue ‘Save The Ocean’ series, offered in Turtle, Samurai and solar variants. It follows on from the recent Black Series and Blue Lagoon. But while last year’s limited edition … ContinuedThe post IN-DEPTH: The Seiko Samurai ‘Save The Ocean’ SRPC93K appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

EDITOR’S PICK: An ultra-cool Speedy with orange details? It’s the Omega Speedmaster Racing of course

Editor’s note: A few months ago the watch-loving world went a little nuts for the Speedmaster Ultraman. Many (many) people missed out on copping it, but if your love of retro orange highlights still burns strong, how about this automatic alternative? And while there’s a black dial on offer that looks even more ultra, we’re … ContinuedThe post EDITOR’S PICK: An ultra-cool Speedy with orange details? HANDS-ON: The Chanel J12 Untitled

So deeply has Chanel’s J12 become embedded in the canon of 21st-century design, it’s easy to forget that it was introduced only 18 years ago. From the original model – a chic, sporty and androgynous piece in black ceramic that Chanel’s then artistic director, Jacques Helleu, had designed to wear himself – it has evolved … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: The Chanel J12 Untitled appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

Cola was the hot topic leading up to Baselworld 2018 when it came to speculation about new Rolex releases. Would the Big Crown twist the lid off a new ‘Coke’, a two-colour red and black Cerachrom bezel GMT-Master II model, or rather open a cold can of Pepsi, referring to the two-colour red and blue … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: The 5 big Rolex releases of Basel 2018, including a cool Pepsi and warm root beer, and a gem of a Daytona appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

INTRODUCING: The Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8

Omega releasing a new Speedmaster model at Baselworld 2018 is hardly the biggest surprise ever, but still, the high contrast black and yellow colour scheme and novel dial design make the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 an interesting, attention-seeking addition to the family. INSIGHT: Designing A. Lange & Söhne - part 4, colour, material and finish

Think of Lange’s colour palette and the word ‘sober’ probably springs to mind. Or restrained. Limited. Calm. Muted. Subdued. Discreet. Anything but vivid and daring. Now, let’s for a moment think not of A. Lange & Söhne but only of the colours: white, black, grey (dials); black again, brown, (straps); pink gold, white gold (platinum … ContinuedThe post INSIGHT: Designing A. HANDS-ON: Light in the darkness -  the Seiko Prospex SNE493P

Late last year, Seiko announced a series of limited edition Prospex divers, featuring blacked-out cases and the evocative name of ‘The Black Series’. The story behind the name and the black-and-orange concept is the murky, mysterious world of night diving. HANDS-ON: Aggressively monochrome - the blacked-out Bulgari Octo Ultranero

With its intensely angular octagonal case, it’s easy to see why Bulgari’s Octo collection is a cult favourite. And the latest versions take the model down a darker path. We looked at the crimson-accented version earlier this year, and today we go even darker with the full-black Octo Ultranero.
