LIST: 4 outrageously cool Australian military Bremonts I spotted at their Melbourne boutique opening

Walking into Bremont’s brand new Melbourne boutique, it doesn’t take long to work out the brand’s military and aviation connection. If the spartan style of the watches didn’t give the game away, the pictures of planes on the walls, the hanging model biplane, and the actual, very battered looking ejection seat sitting front-and-centre kind of … ContinuedThe post LIST: 4 outrageously cool Australian military Bremonts I spotted at their Melbourne boutique opening appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

VIDEO: 5 stunning Jaeger-LeCoultre watches from SIHH 2019

The talk of the Jaeger-LeCoultre booth at SIHH was the incredible (and incredibly well-sized) Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel, but that rare bird was in hot demand, so we didn’t manage any quality one-on-one time with it. But that’s OK really, as there were numerous other exquisitely finished offerings on hand, from the Reverso … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: 5 stunning Jaeger-LeCoultre watches from SIHH 2019 appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

VIDEO: It’s a kind of magic - Hublot’s Big Bang Red Magic

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” I’m fairly sure Arthur C. Clarke didn’t have Hublot - or even watches - in mind when he made the now famous futurist statement. But it’s certainly something that rings true for Hublot’s latest ceramic marvel. Because while most watch fans are familiar with the use of … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: It’s a kind of magic – Hublot’s Big Bang Red Magic appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

When someone’s watch story starts in the backstreets of Havana, you know it’s going to be good. In fact, it would be a good story, even if the watch itself didn’t match up to the tale. Luckily for all involved, Adam’s oversized mid-century Longines, double signed with famous retailer Cuervo y Sobrinos, stands up. On … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: “I’m in a back street in Havana and a watchmaker says you should look at this…” – Adam and his Longines Cuervo Y Sobrinos appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

Ep. 79 - Watch Lust 2018

This week the guys take some time to candidly share the watches they're actually considering as purchases for 2018. The wrist check is also a fun one, as both of the snobs share some old time favorites and a very particular watch that hasn't been on the show for some time. Also, a microbrand offering a 7750 chronograph for under €1,000? Yeah, you bet your ass that made it's way into the discussion.

LIST: 3 new Bremont watches that grabbed my attention at their London boutique

When in London, it’d be rude not to drop in and see one of their (very few) British watch brands – Bremont. Luckily, the brand’s co-founder Giles English happened to be around their Mayfair boutique and up for a cup of tea. I might’ve had a coffee, but that didn’t stop Giles and I chatting … ContinuedThe post LIST: 3 new Bremont watches that grabbed my attention at their London boutique appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

VIDEO: 5 winning Bulgaris from Baselworld 2018

While I know Bulgari released a full suite of new models at Baselworld 2018 - including a nice new Lucea and variants on the Octo Roma - really, it was all about their geometric critical hit, the Octo. And while we didn’t exactly see the Octo come in new shapes and sizes (it’s still very square), we … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: 5 winning Bulgaris from Baselworld 2018 appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

WATCHSPOTTING: YouTube millionaire Logan Paul just bought his first Rolex

This morning, as I sipped my morning coffee and perused YouTube, I noticed a video in my ‘suggested feed’, titled ‘I just bought a 3,000,000 watch’. Obviously, I was intrigued, and couldn’t resist clicking through. As I skimmed through the video, it was apparent that YouTube star Logan Paul, who posted the video, didn’t actually … ContinuedThe post WATCHSPOTTING: YouTube millionaire Logan Paul just bought his first Rolex appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

VIDEO: Why I love my watch - with Andre Agassi

Andre Agassi’s response to the question, “Are you into watches?” didn’t exactly go to script. “Not at all. I have no interest in them,” he said. It’s not the first time we’ve spoken at length to someone who doesn’t identify as a ‘watch person’ per se. Mark Bouris is one, Mark Richards another. But this … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: Why I love my watch – with Andre Agassi appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

We’re big fans of German brand Nomos Glashütte here at Time+Tide, and we know there’s a lot of love for them out there in the wider watch world, too. eBay Finds: Incredible Vintage Watches from Omega, Eterna, and Longines

eBay Finds is back! This bi-weekly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at info@wornandwound.com for potential inclusion. Vintage Seiko 6139-6009 “Pogue”  There are many famous vintage Seikos, but few are as iconic as the 6139 “Pogue” automatic chronograph with the yellow dial. Made famous of course by Col. William Pogue wearing one on his Skylab 4 mission in 1973, making it the first automatic chronograph worn in space! While this example isn’t the exact model, pretty much all the vintage 6139-600X models with a yellow dial are considered a “Pogue” by collectors. This example looks all original and in good shape. The case is unpolished with crisp edges and the original brushed finish, but it does have a few dings from honest use. The bright yellow dial is nice, and there is some aging to the lume on the dial and hands, not uncommon. The watch comes on the original and correct Seiko H-link bracelet. No movement picture but the watch runs per the seller.  View auction here Vintage Eterna KonTiki  Here’s a fantastic vintage Eterna KonTiki 20 with the original bracelet. Eterna made a plethora of various KonTiki models, both divers and sport/dress models. This version is the latter. The steel case is probably in the 36mm range although the seller doesn’t specify. But the case is in great sh...

Highlights: Magnificent Pocket Watches at Sotheby’s Hong Kong

In exactly a week, Sotheby’s Hong Kong will stage Important Watches, an impressive, two-day auction that includes a selection of outstanding pocket watches from Switzerland and Great Britain, namely timepieces by Patek Philippe and Charles Frodsham, with most of the latter made by Nicole Nielsen. Three watches stand out from this already elite herd, built by the best of London and Geneva – a modern grand complication, one of the first-ever flying tourbillon watches, and a minute-repeating pocket chronometer. Despite a recent uptick in interest, pocket watches still offer phenomenal value, and are often the most interesting lots in auction catalogues for movement nerds. The pocket watches in Sotheby’s upcoming sale exemplify this. Lot 2293 – Patek Philippe ref. 942/2 “Grande Complication” This is a relatively recent example of a historical Patek Philippe genre, the grande complication pocket watch, one that dates back over a century now. The common watch complications fall into three categories: chiming, timing, and calendars. Chiming watches include repeaters in all their resolutions, plus clock watches, alarms, and hour strikers. Chronographs, rattrapantes, dédoublantes and independent seconds functions are timing complications. Calendar complications, besides the obvious, include moon phase, time of sunrise and sunset, and equation of time. A triple complicated watch combines complications from all three families. For Patek Philippe this traditionally meant ...

Happenings: Siam Paragon Bangkok Watch Week Is Back For 2026

If you're based in Southeast Asia, or just have a general hankering to visit Bangkok soon, the capital city of Thailand is preparing to host the second edition of the Siam Paragon Bangkok Watch Week from September 22nd to September 27th. Hosted by Siam Paragon, one of Thailand's largest luxury shopping malls, the six-day showcase will bring together a large gathering of collectors from across Southeast Asia and beyond, curious newcomers to watchmaking, and industry heavyweights for a major celebration of horology. This year will see over 45 brands participating in the watch week, which marks more than double the brand count from last year's inaugural effort. The show will feature a wide range of brands, from haute horlogerie mainstays like Greubel Forsey, A. Lange & Söhne, and MB&F; to more niche names like David Candaux and Behrens. There's going to be a lot of the big names here, and enough deep-cut brands to keep you entertained. Part of the programming for Bangkok Watch Week will be numerous experiences spread out throughout the week, with workshops, presentations, and more being conducted by many notable names behind many of the brands making an appearance during the show. Unfortunately, I believe many, if not most, of these experiences are already fully booked, so if you're planning to make it to Bangkok, take a look now to see what's still open. Our friends at the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, or the FHH, will introduce its Academy Lounge concept to host worksho...
