I backed up Baselworld, with a solid stint in London, where - let me tell you - I did some serious watch spotting. So much spotting in fact, we had to split it out. Here we go! Kicking things off, in true British fashion, a London boutique-only edition Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. This is one of only 26, and … ContinuedThe post SPOTTED! One thing me and my father have in common is that we both really enjoy scoping out pawn shops for some good deals, and living in Lincoln, Nebraska there Is a strong influence from college football and college life in general. So you’ll often find some neat stuff that some college kid pawned off to pay for rent or groceries. Among the many things you find, watches fill most the pawn shops around town.

I hope to make the case that there are vintage quartz watches that are worth collecting, even if they aren’t quite as rare. And to kick things off, I will start with perhaps a particularly eye-catching model: the Seiko 7A28-7010.

Last year, Andy and I put together a fun little speculative list on heritage reissues we’d like to see in 2018. It was a fun story, so we thought we’d revisit it - with a Basel twist. One of the strongest, all-round collections of SIHH was, without a doubt, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris. When it came to Panerai’s latest collection, we’ve already covered off how the Luminor Due was the surprise star. And while it’s fair to say the smaller models accounted for a disproportionate amount of the noise, there was strong representation at the larger end of the scales. It’s a tricky task upgrading a storied and legendary watch such as the Santos - you must innovate while appearing to be unchanging. It’s a job that Cartier have pulled off with aplomb at SIHH 2018.
