Venezianico

Italian microbrand founded 2020 in Venice by Alessandro De Ros and Alvise Meneghetti. Venezianico produces Italian-designed Swiss Made wristwatches drawing on Venetian heritage: the Nereide dive watch (Doges' Palace bezel motif), the Bucintoro (named for the ceremonial Doge's barge), the Redentore (after the Festa del Redentore), and the Chinatown quartz. The Venezianico Story

Alessandro De Ros and Alvise Meneghetti founded Venezianico in Venice in 2020. Both were Venetians by origin and watch enthusiasts by hobby; the founding concept was a microbrand with design explicitly drawn from Venetian historical and cultural references rather than the generic microbrand templates (Swiss dive, American GMT, Japanese everyday). The Venetian lagoon, the Doges' Palace, the ceremonial Doge's barge Bucintoro, the Festa del Redentore festival, and the Chinatown quarter were all translated into specific dial-and-case design elements.

The brand's commercial anchor is the Nereide (2020), a 200m dive watch with a Doges' Palace bezel motif: the rotating bezel is engraved with the diamond-shaped tracery that wraps the second floor of the Doges' Palace in San Marco. The case is 42mm steel with Venetian-architecture-inspired engravings, and the movement is a Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic. The Nereide has multiple dial variants including Mediterranean blue, Adriatic turquoise, and Venetian red.

Subsequent references extended the Venetian-heritage approach. The Bucintoro (2022) is a dress watch with a dial pattern drawn from the ceremonial Doge's barge that carried the Doge of Venice for 800 years until Napoleon destroyed it in 1798. The Redentore (2023) commemorates the Festa del Redentore, Venice's annual church festival featuring fireworks across the lagoon. The Chinatown (2023) is a quartz reference with dial typography inspired by Venetian neighbourhood signage.

Venezianico is distributed direct-to-consumer through the brand's website plus a small network of Italian specialist retailers. All watches are Swiss Made: assembly, movement, and case production in Switzerland. Retail runs from approximately €650 (Chinatown quartz) to €1,800 (Nereide Titanium automatic) and €3,000+ for specific limited Venetian-theme commemoratives. Annual production has grown from a few hundred pieces in 2020 to an estimated several thousand per year by 2024, making Venezianico one of the faster-growing Italian design-led microbrands at the accessible tier.
