Let’s face it, the fair has been a bit of a mixed bag. There’s been a range of good, bad, and downright ugly watches lurking in these halls. As we make our way through Baselworld 2019's press day, it's already evident that, from a distance, this show feels quite different from what we've encountered in the past. Almost immediately, the Swatch Group's absence has been realized and from the TBWS side of things, this almost significantly cuts down on the number of watches we'd usually talk about. But, we thought it would be fun to gather our thoughts so far and update this post throughout the week as we get our hands on the growing pile of press materials. So here are some watches that have stopped up in our tracks-for better or worse.

For Baselworld 2019, the familiar Oris Aquis has been updated with a GMT complication, making it what could very well be, the coolest and most vacation-ready version so far. Let's take a quick look at this "not-so-piloty" GMT option.

Perhaps Panerai’s most collectible modern-day watch, the original Bronzo, is credited with kick-starting today’s bronze watch craze. While it may not have been the first, when it was released in 2011 it immediately captured the patina-friendly hearts of collectors. Quickly selling out all 1000 pieces and spawning three more models, with each one as limited … ContinuedThe post INTRODUCING: The Panerai Submersible Bronzo PAM00968 – Bronze is back and it’s no a longer limited edition appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

It’s no secret that the Octo Finissimo has been a watch that’s kick-started the heart of Bulgari’s recent string of critical hits. And now the collection has - in addition to the core time-only model, minute repeaters and tourbillons - a chronograph. And not just any chronograph, the world’s thinnest. Alongside its regular production models, Bremont has long been creating bespoke versions of its watches for personnel in the world’s militaries, customising dials and casebacks with the logos and insignias of their units. Bremont is a brand built, to no small degree, around meaningful collaborations - particularly those in the aerospace sector. There’s an argument to be made for a subtle sartorial flex (and it’s an argument that Barack Obama definitely won with his Rag & Bone “44” bomber jacket btw). Class, elegance, all that jazz. I don’t want to sound too hyperbolic, but Baselworld 2019 will be make or break.
