Two Broke Watch Snobs
As we make our way through Baselworld 2019's press day, it's already evident that, from a distance, this show feels quite different from what we've encountered in the past. Almost immediately, the Swatch Group's absence has been realized and from the TBWS side of things, this almost significantly cuts down on the number of watches we'd usually talk about. But, we thought it would be fun to gather our thoughts so far and update this post throughout the week as we get our hands on the growing pile of press materials. So here are some watches that have stopped up in our tracks-for better or worse.

So, this exists. Look, I write about high-end mechanical watches on the daily, so I’ve got a pretty high threshold for the superfluous things in life, but this is just ridiculous. Even though many look to Rolex as a steadfast, unchanging bastion of the watch world, there are some definite outliers in the field. Over the years I’ve had a few run-ins with UK-based brand Christopher Ward, having reviewed some of their older world time and jump hour watches. The talk of the Jaeger-LeCoultre booth at SIHH was the incredible (and incredibly well-sized) Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel, but that rare bird was in hot demand, so we didn’t manage any quality one-on-one time with it.
